Marcia Resnick's New York City: Photos from 1975 to 1982 (2017)
director / camera / editor / composer
Marcia Resnick's New York City: Photos from 1975 to 1982 is a short film documenting the experiences and visual work of Brooklyn-born photographer Marcia Resnick during seven of the most important years of the city's cultural history. The film explores both Resnick's development and perspective as a female photographer during an iconic but challenging era, as well as the lasting effects of gentrification on the city's arts scenes.
Marcia's story is told through her own analogue portraits of some of New York's most legendary characters, as well as many of its bygone spaces. Featured portraits include Andy Warhol, Allen Ginsberg, Mick Jagger, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
